GraBird Software Development, Inc.
was founded in 1995 by Peter Wilkens, who had been previously working as a long-term contract programmer for Coopers & Lybrand LLC in Stamford, CT.
After moving to Georgia and branching out on his own, Peter found inspiration in his African Gray parrot when naming his company. Known as one of the smartest creatures on earth, these amazing birds can learn complex human vocabularies, and can even apply appropriate self-taught context! His "gray bird" seemed like an appropriate reference to distinguished intelligect, as Peter is also a member of American Mensa Ltd.
Over the years, Peter has taken occasional breaks from the company, working full-time for others when there was an opportunity to do great things. But all along, he maintained existing client systems and continued to build his reputation as an outstanding software developer.
With a background that includes numerous creative talents, Peter isn't a typical programmer. You won't find an introverted techno-geek here! Peter has always taken great pride in his work, and he'll always do whatever it takes to make things that people want to use. Systems he's built over 10 years ago are still going strong and barely need any maintenance!
One thing certainly sets us apart: GraBird never uses international outsourcing! All work is done here in Georgia, by Peter himself or other local developers and systems people who meet his same set of standards and customer dedication.
We welcome any opportunity to do great things for your company and contribute to your organization's success.
